Be A Design Group is a blog for graphic designers. It was created in March of 2004 by Adrian Hanft and Bennett Holzworth. In our relatively short history we have grown to be one of the most widely read graphic design blogs around. Our authors are all practicing designers, and that is the main audience that we write to. We aren’t celebrities, and you probably wouldn’t recognize our work if you saw it. Our belief is that to be a great designer you must be an active growing designer. That means we don’t know all the answers, but we are enthusiastic about figuring things out. We expect our ideas to be challenged, and enjoy nothing more than a passionate debate.
We talk a lot about graphic design, but we also talk about technology, branding, advertising, blogging, books, music, photography, typography, Apple, direct
mail, logos, Legos, Transformers and pretty much anything we are excited about. So you never really know what we will end up talking about, but you can be sure it will be entertaining. Our writing is a healthy mix of cultural criticism, collaboration, design philosophy, controversy, observation, recommendations, story telling, and tutorials.
While we enjoy our design blog neighbors, we have no intention of copying them or retreading the same ground. We attribute our success to the collaboration between our authors and our readers. There is strength in groups and the name of our blog is an invitation for all designers to contribute. We invite you to join our group by leaving comments or by contributing a guest editorial.
