Clinton Carlson

by Adrian Hanft,

With nearly ten years of graphic design experience (more if you count the baseball publications he wrote and designed as a child), his professional life has taken him from Nebraska to Seattle to Edmonton, Alberta. He has experienced many facets of the design community, including time working for advertising agencies, design studios, publishers, corporate in-house creative departments and himself. Much of Clinton’s professional research and work has centered around information design, identity development, branding and illustration.

Clinton is currently attending the University of Alberta, in his first year of a Masters of Design program with an emphasis on Visual Communication Design. His current research is focused on design’s interaction with social issues. He is specifically interested in discovering how participatory design methods interact with health communication theories, HIV/AIDS prevention and rural communities in developing countries.

Clinton continues to do freelance illustration and design; trying to keep one foot or toe in traditional commerce-oriented design.
