Pac-Manhattan

I came across a fun project called Pac-Manhattan. They describe Pac-Manhattan as “a large-scale urban game that utilizes the New York City grid to recreate the 1980′s video game sensation Pac-Man. This analog version of Pac-man is being developed in NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications graduate program, in order to explore what happens when games are removed from their “little world” of tabletops, televisions and computers and placed in the larger “real world” of street corners, and cities.” It sounds alot like a high tech version of capture the flag. It was a little disappointed that they picked cell phones over gps to track Pac-Man’s movements. They said they didn’t have the funds for GPS, and the buildings interfered with the reception. They have some video clips of the game being played, and it is kind of funny to see the guys dressed up in Pac-Man and Ghost outfits. I remember playing Pac-Man in college… To bad I didn’t figure out how to get college credit for it like these guys did.
