Nike's Lance Armstrong Commercial

In anticipation of Lance Armstrong winning the Tour de France, here is a link to one of my favorite commercials on TV right now. I think it is longer than the one running on TV, so enjoy.

Re: “See Lance Ride.” This is the best commercial I’ve seen in years. I downloaded it soon after I saw it during the TDF, played it dozens of times, sent the link to all my friends, and I still go back and view it every couple of weeks or so. The only drawback is having to watch it in the small Macromedia Flash Player window. What’s the chance of getting this in DVD “movie” format? During the time last July and August when I was watching this over and over, I thought it would be a great idea if Nike and the Lance Armstrong Foundation offered “See Lance Ride” on a DVD—maybe along with other Lance video clips—along with the Livestrong wrist bands.
Based on this commercial, you guys do great work. Congratulations!
Best regards, James

James, I wish we could take credit for that commercial but it wasn’t done by us. I was just sharing the link to the site where people could go see it. Does anyone know who did make the commercial? I should look into that…

I think most Nike commercials are done by Wieden + Kennedy. I went to their site, www.wk.com, but I only found a limited view of what they have done. I was surprised to find out that they did the Honda cog ad that Adrian made a post about.

According to Adtunes.com,
“The sound was designed by creative director Dane Davis and Eddie Kim at 740 Sound/Danetracks with help from producer Scott Ganary, and Jeff Payne at Eleven Sound Studios in Santa Monica mixed the final audio.”
Here is a link to the discussion.

It is not always easy as ‘Just do it’ when you have cancer. It is great Lance was able to beat cancer, live, and go on to do what he has done…but my Dad died of cancer two weeks ago, and my wife’s Dad died of cancer two years ago. Many others die of cancers not curable….it should of mentioned more what needs to be done to beat this deadly disease.

I wanted to post this, because there is more to the story. A lot of us who have no personal experience with cancer can get a little lost in the Lance Armstrong-ness of it all and think that beating the disease is something that can just ‘be done’ if you work hard enough. Sadly, that is not the case. Lance Armstrong’s story is inspiring because of the immense losses we suffer due to cancer, and can bring hope to those diagnosed that it might not be the end. But the most important part of the story is that Armstrong is using his fame and his story to help other people afflicted with the disease. In the past 8 years The Lance Armstrong Foundation has donated over $9 million dollars to cancer research. Sure, that’s not everything, but that is certainly something.
