Paula Scher Interview

by , (2 comments)

I just saw the Paula Scher interview done by Hillman Curtis. It is the next in a series done for Adobe Systems. While you are there, check out the Sagmeister one if you haven’t seen it already.

 love the Citibank logo segment…brilliant words.

Jake, you couldn’t have been more timely with this post - I’m working with my students on trying to develop more typographic sensitivity even as we speak and this is going to be object-lesson numero uno tomorrow morning with them!

Paula just nailed logo design in that same second she was describing - it seems like it’s actually an understanding / awareness that calligraphers develop more readily than others…I’ve always heard talk about the way that Japanese calligraphers view their craft & art: 99% preparation + 1% execution - ready yourself thoroughly in order to realize a single moment of perfect creation…

Good schtuff, sir…

Talk about timing. I randomly went to Hillman Curtis today as well and was going to go back and watch the interview. It has been several months since I’ve visited their site. I look forward to watching it.
