I thought Learning to Look UP was wonderful. I collected notes and thoughts at the following URL: http://www.independentreport.org/hownotes/HOWnotespt3.htm

Thanks for the link and the great notes. I was sad that I couldn’t go to this session. I have followed Richard Wilde for some time and felt inclined to go to his session instead. I wonder if I should have went to Brendan’s. His preview was inspiration in itself.

Learning to Look Up with Brendan Dawes, (pronounced Doors).

HOW about a session full of new ideas, that I have thought about every day since the conference. Brendan presented his ideas with great passion. His visuals were first rate, and I really enjoyed his style. We enjoyed a good mix of stories, and his concepts for interface design presented via computer screen visuals. The Playdoh interface will become legendary. See for yourself at his website http://www.brendandawes.com.
Yet, he also provided a good business model for trying things, making mistakes, learning, and then finding a client to use your ideas.
Just today, I was walking outside and saw a grouping of daises blowing in the wind. I thought… how could I use this as a basis for an interface, or web design? I also like puddles and rocks, and how could I use this for an interface, or at least maybe dropping rocks in water, creates a Flash web surface? Would it be possible to use wind, to create an interface? …you get the idea.
And… being from Manchester, England, he provided a real International experience to the session, and to the conference.
