As you probably know, Be A Design Group is powered by Movable Type software. Today Movable Type 3.2 was released, and our site has been upgraded to the new version. So far everything seems to have gone well, and I am enjoying the vastly improved Movable Type interface and features. If anyone notices any bugs, please let us know, and thanks for your patience.

Ok, so the upgrade wasn’t perfect. When I rebuild the indexes I get an internal 500 error. The site does rebuild in spite of the error, though. I checked out the Movable Type page regarding “500 on CGI Script Files” (http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/kb/installation/500oncgi_file.html ) and everything checked out. I opened a ticket with MT and will let you know what the solution is. In the meantime, I don’t think anyone will notice a problem. This is just what is going on behind the scenes.

Some of you may have noticed that the site was down for a little while today. It looks like my problems were a little bigger than I first anticipated. Bennett noticed that the recent comments section wasn’t updating. When I investigated that, I found that the comment listing page in Movable Type only showed the comments made after the upgrade. This was the same problem that we had after our last upgrade. That happened at the same time that we were changing to a new hosting plan, so I solved the problem by doing a clean install. So, I decided that I would do a clean install again today and reimport all the entries. I decided that since I was going to reinstall Movable Type anyway, I would do it on a mysql database instead of the default Berkley database. Mysql is supposed to be a much more stable database. To make a long story short, everything seems to be back to normal. I think.
