iPod nano

Feeling relatively alone in my fears that the Mac is becoming a PC, today I again felt like part of the Apple community when I heard of the new iPod Nano. Bennett may never forgive me for my PC ownership, but the rest of you can believe me when I say, "I love Apple!" But Don't let me ruin the moment with too many words. Lets just sit back and enjoy a beautifully designed product...

I’m buying a new laptop this week, or next, and I’m 100% sure I want to tag one of those bad boys onto that purcahse. What’s another $250 when you’re dropping $1500 anyway?

Readers: The iPod nano is also available in black. Which color do you choose? I choose white, because it looks like an iPod.

It looked amazing in the Apple email I received overnight. I can’t wait to see the color screen (can you still read small type?) and try out the controls. And it still has 14-hour battery life. My iPod Shuffle lasts forEVer the way it is, with only a 12-hour battery life. I think my wife needs something new for Christmas…my iPod Shuffle …

I would probably choose white. I’m guessing it would show fingerprints less than the glossy black.

Nate, they should throw in a smaller iPod for free if you’re buying a laptop.

Old: family pictures in your wallet
New: family pictures on your iPod (every size but the Shuffle). Now small enough to be carried wherever you go.

I was one of the first people to get one in San Francisco, its the coolest, definatly better than anything around its price range for apple.

Nate, you know me, I gotta be different plus I like a good argument — I’d have to go with the black, just because everyone else will go with a white one. The inscription on the back of my 40GB, “I Got a Fever and the only Rx is More Cowbell” is just somehow not enough different from everyone else to satisfy my taste for orneryness…

I like the black, too. I didn’t like the black and red U2 version, but the solid black looks pretty nice.

oh, don’t forget, it’s “nano”, not “Nano” … all lower case … c’mon, it’s part of the the great apple marketing/advertising for the sweet, tiny/large ipod/ishuffle …

total agreement that apple hit the mark with this little beauty for design and function. i’ll look to see if i can’t get someone in my family to send me one for christmas.

This is obviously the end of the iPod mini, since it is nowhere to be found on the Apple site. Did the mini not sell as well, or are they just trying to get their iPod line just a little more consistent? The iPod mini was never a big draw for me, but I had more music than it had memory. I’m sure there will be a good amount of people that will miss the color options.

Apple gives you color options until they decide to take it away. In the end it is always black & white for Apple. Take it or leave it.

Actually Bennett, if you watch steve Job’s 900 hour speech announcing iTunes 5, the phone (blah), and the iPod nano, he does say that the iPod mini was the best selling iPod across the board.

So it’s like they’ve taken their good thing and made it better. They even balked a little bit with the loss of the colors (one of the draws to the iPod mini, just like the original iMac) by immediately—in the same presentation—announcing colored plastic carrying cases.

And for the Design record, Apple does White better than anyone else.

Great New York Times article on nano and the advancements of Apple in the last few years. Just ordered my new nano from Nebraska Furnatiure Mart here in Omaha they say they expect them in around the 20th of this month.

Ok - first the nano looks amazing. agreed. i prefer the white. Off, but still on topic, my ipod photo of couse can’t be found any longer because of the introduction of the color screen for every ipod thing…is this the kind of takeover they are planning for the mini vs nano? I was going to get my little sis a mini (through the free ipod mini educational promotion going on til 9.24 i think) and that would obviously mean my sister and i both would have seemingly ancient ipods. Its great that they are moving so fast with introducing new stuff..but c’mon…where a G5 laptop already!

Bobby said:

They’ll have Intel chips in them before they ever make it to G5.

For a laugh, read this post from Daring Fireball about Dell’s new mp3 player.

Isn’t it iPod nano that lets you have “1000 songs in your pocket”? Is that true??

IPod Nano - the most frustrating and painful experience I remember for a long time. The software developers at Itunes and Ipod have forgotten we “public” buy these things. IPod unit itself - excellent. User Friendly rating of the software for downloads -100. Great product while the software interface is hopeless, thoughtless and frustrating. Overall the software makes this a “NO BUY”
