More for ole Hitler the Skunk. I have a heavy rod iron doorstop like figure of a Skunk with Hitler's face. It's apparently vintage WWII as well. It's strange to see Hitler referenced as a skunk in your finds. There's more. The artist who created this skunk placed two words on the rear, which are spelled incorrectly mussouni hirohtc with an arrow curving from the words to the skunk's pew hole. It's nothing less than freaky looking. I imagine the creator meant to state Mussolini Hirohtic. The piece was made with a great deal of care and thought because was not made of two equal parts two uneven parts so as not to have a line through the head or face. Quite a political statement and you may have the only other artifact making this reference.

Chris, I was just trying to summarize Shaughnessy's article in one sentence. I don't completely agree, but it is interesting to think about.

Good design isn't naturally exclusive of humanity, sincere personality or even hand drawn signs or used tools is it? Even design that is professionally produced - has that 'slick corporate polish' if you will, can be 'bad design' if it is simply generic or inappropriate - the 'millenium swoosh' anyone?

Nate, that quote by Shaughnessy stood out for me, too, but in the context of his article, it is actually a pretty interesting argument. As design becomes more and more prevelant, the thing that actually stands out isn't the slick corporate polish of design. What really gets noticed is the things that show signs of humanity - hand drawn signs, used tools, sincere personality, and *cringe* maybe even "bad" design.
