Continuing our trek through sunny Minneapolis, we spend some quiet time in the new Central Library with Brian Edlefson, Senior Designer and Art Director for Target. Brian’s is the in-house designer’s hero, able to work for major corporations, under major brands, and produce majorly amazing work. He holds a position on the Minneapolis AIGA chapter’s board of directors as the associate programming director for in-house designers. He’s also worked for Herman Miller, MoMA, and holds a MFA in Graphic Design from Yale. So there.

This interview was great. It was really interesting to hear such a great guest, from such a well respected company.

QUESTION: I Love the Taboo typeface segement, but in addition can we have a “Classic” typeface? One that the designer feels is intregal, or hip, or something they really like using? (kinda like the past font island podcast but with the guest.)

Great Podcast. I am an in-house designer and found Brian Edlefson’s comments on the in-house environment very intriguing. It sparked some ideas on how I can instill the value of design into my company. Keep up the good work.

Hey, I’m a student at a University and I’m supposed to interview Brian Edlefson. I was just wondering, from a graphic designers point of view, what kinds of questions should I ask him? I was also wondering how I may get in touch with him…
