The Pessimist’s Guide to Getting a Job in Graphic Design
by Nate Voss, (10 comments)

This guide is for the jaded, lethargic, I-only-want-brutal-honesty young designer.
(EDITOR’S NOTE: I had to edit this post because Nate has a tough time communicating without using four letter words. I apologize for him if you were offended by his “raw” version. I was.)
ONE: Give a care about what you do. If you don’t give a care, go do something else.
TWO: You don’t know [everything]. Stop acting like you do. Read a […] book and learn something.
THREE: Go to [poop.] Design [poop.]
FOUR: Stop being such an [expletive] all the time.
FIVE: Learn to talk about your […] work. If you can make it look good, that’s fine too, but you probably can’t.
(There are 5,780,000 ‘design portfolio tips’ and 9,500,000 ‘job interview tips’ on Google. If you want more advice specific to those topics, get […] out.)

Ah, I believe you may be looking for The Optimist’s Guide. There’s a link for you at the end of this story. This page is for hard-hitting students who demand blunt and negative criticism!

So after reading this entire post, and scanning the long winded next post, I think the pocket-sized pesssimists has more take away power. I’ll remember this one, and be sure to pass it on to my classmate who’s reason for using the default font on all his designs is that searching through all those fonts is hard.

Instead of editting this, you should have made it into a mad lib.

Freakin’ A. Where are Nate’s words? None of those sentences make any sense.

When some see a half empty glass of urine, I see a half full glass of lemonade. How is that for optimism?
