Every now and then we like to branch out on the Be A Design Cast and interview people who are not designers, per se, but who have made a great deal of impact on the design world. Shaun Inman is one of those men. When we traveled to Nashville to meet Shaun, I must admit I was expecting him to be older. Instead he was just about my age with the computer wisdom of 75 strong men. He has transitioned from designer to developer and is responsible for Mint, Inman Flash Replacement, and Designologue (a way better form of layer tennis), and turned out to be one hell of a nice guy. Also big into Final Fantasy, which long time BADCast listeners know makes me all kinds of happy/nerdy during shows. Big thanks again to Shaun for being on the show, and we look forward to calling you next time our BADG Mint breaks down —

Perhaps this seems like a silly request, but as a deaf designer (and I’m not the only one), podcasts are pretty much a non starter. It would be really cool to post the transcript. I have the same problem with web video, fortunately, I think the captioning is starting to be understood to be the next great advancement in that. Flash video now supports it as does iTunes. So in the name of reaching a bigger audience — may I suggest a transcript?

I’m with “the deaf guy” (eventhough i am only a “the half deaf guy”). Because english is not my native tongue, i would prefer a transcript as well to make sure what i “just think i heard” was correct.

Plase take the effort, it should be added anyways in my opinion. Who can listen to an audiocast at work?

Shaun was a great guest. Good show. Nate, I have to say that I am a bit offended that you don’t think he qualifies as a full-fledged “designer.” I admit that the “designer/developer” is a hybrid, but that makes him a “super designer” not a “almost a designer.” I am sure you didn’t mean it as an insult, it just sounded kind of negative to me. Perhaps I am just overly sensitive since I aspire to be that same kind of a hybrid.
