Announcing 36 Point.com!
oh Hai. We’R leavin ur websitz.
What seems like forever ago, Bennett Holzworth moved. He moved to Hastings Nebraska, and if you know where that is, you have my sympathy. Not to be cut off from his close friends back home, he started this blog — this one right here — with his friend Adrian. Some months later, they made the mistake of saying “Hey Nate! How about you write on this blog with us?” To which I replied “Okay.”
150 entries and 53 podcasts later here we are. And hard as it is to say, we’re taking off. As we came to end of the second season of the Be A Design Cast, Donovan and I put a lot of very serious thought into the future of the show. Ultimately, in early December, we decided the time had come to push boldly forward into the undiscovered country of hosting our own show. Er, “web-hosting.” We’ve both called Be A Design Group home for a very long time, and are grateful to Bennett and Adrian for everything they’ve done both for us and the site. In the end, however, it was time to move on.
And move on we are! The new home for the show is 36 Point, which you can find just across the street at 36point.com! That’s a bookmarkin’, there, buddy. Why 36 Point? Headlines, baby. Headlines. The new site will focus on being the home for entertainment for designers, but you’ll still be able to find the random musings of Donovan and I, as well as The Reflex Blue Show, our new — weekly — podcast. What? Well we can’t call it the Be A Design Cast anymore, can we? Chances are, if you were a fan of our old show, you’re probably going to be a fan of the new one. We hope to see you there!
In the end, Donovan and I would like to salute Be A Design Group and its readers. The kind readers, the crazy readers, the readers who spam us with erectile dysfunction ads, and of course everyone who listens to the Be A Design Cast. thanks for everything, and we’ll see you in Teh Futur.
Sincerely,
Nate Voss

So I’m at the bar, and I’m waiting for the rest of the group to show up, so I pull out the iTouch and mooch the Homy Inn’s free WiFi. I navigate here, Voss is using lyrics from Julie Andrews as a headline, and I’ll be damned if I didn’t spill my entire beer on the floor. Seriously, at this point I don’t know what’s sadder: the demise of the BADCast I helped create, or the 12 ounces of beer that are now on the floor instead of in my glass…also, it turns out typing this much on the iTouch kinda sucks. You bet.

Good luck with the new ventures fellas. We do wish you the best. And back off with the Hastings jokes. I learned so much from the people in that small town. I think we, as designers, should get out of our designer friend comfort circle every once in a while. I met amazing professors, musicians, artist, craftsman, and I can also completely attribute my letterpress skills to my 4 year stint in Hastings, Nebraska. Okay, off my soap box.
It was fun to see you develop the show here on BADG. We were proud to supply the platform, bandwidth and support. It will be fun to see what you guys do next.

Wow, I’m all shook up. Congratulations guys!
Tom, you need to pop up as a guest or semi-regular co-host more often…your appearances on the earlier shows were often insightful, and more often a crack-up… (You bet!)
I’d also welcome the return of Paul Berkbigler…he’s like the Dr. Drew of graphic design podcasting.
Here’s hoping you can revisit the magic of the drunken graphic design retreats (Ragnarok) and Typography Island shows… some of the best shows EVAR.
Well that’s my two cents…best of luck!
