The Be A Design Cast Goes To The Future! (and Denver, coincidentally enough)

Yes! This Fall, the Be A Design Cast will be traveling… into the Future! (or as the future-kids say, “Teh Futr”)

My extremely awesome employer has accepted my proposal to attend the AIGA Design Conference in Denver this Fall. The conference has been dubbed “Next” by the venerable folks at the AIGA, where the future of design will be discussed in detail. As this conference takes place in the future, from now, and centers on the future itself, at some point I’m pretty sure time travel will be involved. The future, as we all know, will be populated by 8-bit robots who look like children and like to shoot lasers out of their arms. It will be interesting to see how design plays a role in this new future.

All kidding aside, I am as excited as a 5-year old at Christmas right now. I’ve always wanted to attend a design conference and I’m afraid my icy-cold veneer is chipping away as I may go full-on geek out here. I plan to make the most out of this trip, so that means hitting the Medalist celebration on the 10, the optional pre-conference stuff on the 11th, even the post-conference activities on the 14th (well, as many as I can hit before my flight leaves). Then of course bringing all of my new found wisdom back home like some sort of time-traveling, design Obi-Wan Kenobi.

And yes, there will be BADCasting from the conference. Sure, it might not be in an “officially sanctioned way,” but in more of a “ghetto-sneaky” way. I mean we call it the “BAD”Cast for a reason—and that reason is generally not related to quality, but our own innate “BAD”ness. Futr plans for the shows we’ll do in Denver will appear on this site—just look for Mega Man for all the recent Futr happenings.

And if you listen to the show (or read the blog), we should like, hang out and stuff. Let me know if you’re going!

As a final note, for those of you on the fence about attending, today is the last day to get in on the cheap, so register now if you’re going to do it. You may also be interested in knowing the Great American Beer Festival will be right down the hall.

See you in Teh Futr…

This post was begun in a state of near-death (metaphorically and alcohol-relatedly speaking) by its author and completed at a later date. Sorry for the delay but one’s health has to come before one’s blog! Good photos and reports of second-base debauchery from the DO party inside!
