Jeremy Pruitt

Jeremy is first to admit he has too many interests: design, art, photography, screen printing, music, art history and junk collecting to list a few…

Originally from Kansas but now living in Lincoln, Nebraska, Jeremy works full time as a designer at a local design firm. However, he also has his own playground to showcase art and design done in his spare time. (www.THINKMULE.com) In addition to TM, Jeremy is co-founder of Toggle Magazine. Toggle is an online art magazine with his friend who lives in Italy. (www.ToggleMagazine.com)

Jeremy enjoys what spare time he has chilling with his lovely wife Melanie and his moody cat, Crispy.

David Kadavy

David Kadavy works in Silicon Valley as a Web Designer at WorkMetro.com where he has been since August 2005. Previously, David spent three years in his native Omaha, Nebraska, starting the Graphic Design Department at the architecture firm RDG Planning & Design, where he worked in a variety of media, including web/interactive, print design, and architectural applications such as wayfinding and monumental signage. David’s studies at Iowa State University included a semester in Rome, Italy, where he gained a fascination for early Roman typography. David’s work is featured in the Communication Arts 45th Design Annual. In addition to contributing to Be A Design Group, he also posts regularly on his personal blog, kadavy.net.

Kyle Heinemann

March 15, 2004

Kyle has designed printed material since 1999 or so, and has used the Mac to the max since primary school. His hobbies used to be photography and art history. Now, with the addition of children, they’re kid photos (quick! document it now in hi-speed continuous mode before she grows up!), cleaning the garage, and, if lucky, yard work. He lives in southern California.

Travis Gray

We gave up on Travis ever writing a bio on his own, so we thought we would tell you what we know about him. Travis graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and has worked for an ad agency and an in-house design team. Travis would most likely have a wall of design awards if he cared enough to enter competitions. If you met Travis he would probably have found a way to make you laugh, but watch out for the practical jokes. He spares no one.

Tom Nemitz

March 15, 2004

Tom Nemitz was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1978, the son of a traveling hardware salesman and a dedicated stay-at-home mom. Early in his childhood, he seemed destined to be a writer, penning newsletters about things that happened in the house. He won several creative writing awards throughout middle school, and by high school, was a blossoming force. He became one of the youngest staff members in the history of his high school’s newspaper when he joined as a reporter covering the Intramurals beat during his Sophomore year. By his Senior year, he was Co-Editor and wrote a popular feature. He was awarded a full scholarship to attend his hometown Iowa Central Community College as the Executive Editor of that institution’s newspaper, The Collegian. After one year, he was anxious to escape the town he’d been born and raised in, and he transferred to Creighton University in Omaha, which had one of the best Journalism Departments in the midwest.

Shortly after arriving on campus, Tom rediscovered his artistic gifts and ultimately abandoned writing for a new passion: graphic design. Majoring in Visual Communications, he received numerous awards for student design and web development. He graduated in 2000 after being one of the rising stars of Creighton’s design department, and took a job working in-house for one of the country’s largest distributors of construction and packaging supplies.

Over the past three years, Tom has reconnected with his writing past, and has published one book and contributed to two others. No slouch in the design department either, his design work has been featured in several magazines. He maintains a personal blog (www.polyfro.com), in addition to being an author on Be A Design Group and a contributor to The Bluejay Cafe, a Creighton fan blog. He is also a co-host of the Be A Design Cast, a popular podcast about design available through iTunes.

Unmarried and residing in his adopted hometown of Omaha, Tom spends his freetime following his beloved Creighton Bluejays’ basketball team, who he has season tickets for. He also enjoys playing in a sand volleyball league, reading about design and watching movies.
