What is Be A Design Group?
For those of you who don't know what Be
A Design Group is, it is a graphic design blog (web log) that
has several authors writing on subjects that will in some way
interest a designer. We feature book reviews, design critiques,
music recommendations, and a wide assortment of design discourse.
It is always exciting to hear new voices in the mix, and we look
forward to the continued contributions of our group. We have big
plans for BADG, so stay tuned. Here are a couple of highlights
and things to watch for:
HOW
Conference Reviews
Bennett and Adrian tackled a large task at this year's HOW Design
Conference. Our goal: live reporting from the conference. We came
back dazed and sleep deprived, but more importantly we wrote over
20 reviews in three days and it is all still soaking in. We wrote
reviews of sessions by Sagmeister,
Heller,
Collins,
Wilde
and Stout
among many others. If you haven't already looked it over, check
out some of the updated photos and the newly posted movie of Ken
Barber doing hand lettering.

BA in the Spotlight
Keep an eye out for an upcoming article in a major design publication
about blogging. Adrian and Bennett both contributed to the article
that focuses on the growing popularity of graphic design blogs.
We are also going to be on a panel of design bloggers for the
national internet radio show, Design
Matters, hosted by Debbie Millman. Tune in on July 29th from
3-4PM EST. You can listen to it on Voice
America Business.
Be Aware
In an effort for our site to be even more "group" oriented
we are going to have a group post called "Be
Aware" twice a month. Each author on our site will post
about a subject that they are passionate about. The posts will
cover topics such as design education, photography, quotes, tips,
letterpress and more. Please let us know if you have any ideas
to share on BADG. Our goal is to be an influence in the design
community and the culture at large. By discussing and thinking
about design, we can't help but become better at our profession.
