Ambulance LTD

Although this album was absent from our best of 2004 discussion a couple weeks ago, a good case could be made for it’s inclusion on the list. It made it on Amazon’s Editors list at number 47 on the strength of “swoony, atmospheric, layered rock that’s primarily interested in guitar-based interplay and subtle dynamics.” There isn’t a bad song on the album, and if a complaint can be made about Ambulance LTD is that the album sounds a little too comfortable. There weren’t any big risks taken on the album, but there also weren’t any dissappointments. The same can be said of the album art. Simple type and a color scheme that sets a mood along with nice abstractish photography. Again, little risk, but nothing to complain about. This album fits nicely in any music collection; store it right between Guster and the Strokes.
